A FEW FACTS ABOUT DOC-UP

 

DOC-UP, the Dalton Organization of Churches United for People, assists the working poor with rent, utilities and prescriptions during crisis situations. DOC-UP performs its local ministry through the Member Churches, the DOC-UP Board, the Office Director, and the Office Volunteers.

 

MEMBER CHURCHES

  • ·        All churches in Dalton-Whitfield County willing to work in an ecumenical environment as set forth in the Preamble by By-Laws are eligible for membership.
  • ·        Churches attain membership by letter of application which states the desire to join, indicates an interest in being active participants, and a willingness to adhere to guidelines established by the DOC-UP Board.
  • ·        Membership in DOC-UP is permanent unless a letter requesting withdrawal from the organization signed by the pastor and a lay representative of the congregation is received by the Board.
  • ·        Member churches may appoint two representatives to attend Board meetings, nominate members to serve as office volunteers, and offer financial and spiritual support to the organization.
  • ·        It shall be the duty of each member to promote and work toward the accomplishment of the purposes of the corporation, and to contribute to it in all ways possible.

DOC-UP BOARD

  • ·        The Board shall be made up of no more than twenty-five (25) and no less than eight (8) persons from the membership of the organization.
  • ·        The Board shall be responsible for the operation of the organization including, but not limited to: audits, review of applications for membership, securing any grants or funds, employment and setting the job descriptions and salary of any paid worker(s), review of all operations, establishment of the budget, policy decisions, and resolution of any problems that may arise.
  • ·        The Board can change operating procedures or amend the By-Laws.
  • ·        The Board shall select replacements, receive suggestions of persons to sit on the Board, and appoint it own officer.

OFFICE DIRECTOR

  • ·        In general, the Office Director shall be responsible for the over-all operation of the DOC-UP office including scheduled days as set by the Board.

OFFICE VOLUNTEERS

  • ·        Volunteers are needed! Christians from all walks of life are encouraged to give a few hours each month at DOC-UP.
